The March To Mars

Somewhere in the future, The world would be ending.

And to planet Mars,

People we’d be sending.

How many you ask?

About 300.

All the other people Would be left for dead.

Now 300 is a lot of Spartans, But peeps? Not a lot

But sadly there were only 300, Places we could allot

Why Mars? You may ask, Well that’s pretty easy.

It’s fairly habitable Though sometimes it gets breezy.

And Mars is close too, Takes about a year. And hey it has ice too,

So it really ain’t that queer Its surface is not gassy, It’s solid and it’s red.

Venus was never an option, Coz nobody wants to be dead.

So now you may ask, Who are the chosen few? I suggest we rank peeps, based on their IQ.

Their max age should be 30, And they should be very fit. So we get a good combo, Of youth, physique and wit.

And we’ll choose 150 women, And the rest will be men.

Coz we’ll need to grow the human race And mankind again.

Great! The peeps are now decided.

Now the travelling part.

We’ll need two spaceships for that, Which are State-of-the-art.

One spaceship for the crew, And the other will have food.

It will also have some building stuff, Like cement, metal and wood.

You may notice that on the list, I haven’t mentioned water.

Patience please, I have a plan I won’t commit mass-slaughter. My plan may sound very weird,

It’ll offend some souls.

But I was thinking how bout we, Bomb both of Mars’ poles?

It will raise Mars’ temperature, And will melt a lot of ice,

Don’t mind the pun, but a lotta water, Means it would be no-ice.

Mars’ soil is made of regolith, Which is not very fertile.

So we’ll also need manures Not little, but a huge pile.

We’d need plants that grow quickly, And are tasty and good.

Potato might be a good option, They are tasty when stewed

But raw foodstuff don’t taste that good, They aren’t very nice.

So we’ll need to import, from Mother Earth, Lots and lots of spice.

Great! The temperature’s set, Now bout the atmosphere. Earth’s one is pretty dense, And Mars’ is almost clear.

So we’ll need to harvest gases, Oxygen we need for sure.

We’ll also need an inert gas, Non-toxic and very pure.

The whole process will take very long, It’s a pretty big task.

So until the levels are optimum, We’ll be wearing a mask.

So how do we get Oxygen?

First, we’ll need CO2.

We’ll mass electrolyse the atmosphere.

To make the air very new.
